A baby Philippine Scops owl was rescued from a forested area in the Bulacan province of the Philippines on Friday 18 March. The bird is believed to be around four months old and it is thought it fell from its nest. It was taken to the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office in Guiguinto to be cared for until it is ready for release back into the wild. The Scops owl is about six inches tall and weighs 700 grams, and is considered an endemic species in the Philippines. Scops owls are native to the Sierra Madre mountain range, but often stray to other forested areas in Bulacan.
