McLeod Eyes Another Leap
Sabres Re-Sign Forward for Four Years, Banking on Continued Growth
The Buffalo Sabres have committed to Ryan McLeod for the next four seasons, signaling strong belief in his potential to build upon a career-best performance. The 25-year-old forward is looking to exceed last year’s impressive offensive output.
All-Situations Impact
Last season, McLeod notched a personal NHL best of 53 points, with 20 goals and 33 assists across 79 games. His overall regular-season record stands at 128 points from 52 goals and 76 assists in 298 contests.
However, General Manager Kevyn Adams highlighted that McLeod‘s value extends beyond scoring. His versatility across different game situations was a key factor in the team’s decision to secure him long-term.
“One of the things I love about Ryan is he showed last year, I mean third-, second-line center, he can move over to wing, he can play power play, he kills penalties. An all-situations player right in the prime years of his career as a centerman.”
—Kevyn Adams, General Manager
With his established speed and the departure of Peterka, McLeod has a prime opportunity to elevate his statistics further. For a Sabres franchise that hasn’t reached the Stanley Cup Playoffs in 14 years, his continued development could prove invaluable.
As of the end of the 2023-2024 season, McLeod’s Corsi For percentage at even strength was 52.1%, indicating a positive impact on puck possession when he is on the ice (Natural Stat Trick).
