The Michigan State Spartans are extending their recruiting reach to the class of 2027, with a keen interest in securing top-tier talent like two-sport star Ronnie Gomiller.

Gomiller Details MSU Offer

Ronnie Gomiller, a standout athlete from East St. Louis High School, recently discussed his offer from Michigan State. The talented prospect spoke with Michigan State Spartans On SI, sharing details about his recruitment experience.

“It’s truly an honor and definitely a goal of mine since starting my recruitment journey. Michigan State is a great school full of great players year after year,” Gomiller said, expressing his excitement about the opportunity.

Relationship Building

Gomiller is eager to connect with the entire coaching staff at Michigan State, rather than focusing on a single individual. He believes establishing relationships across the board is a strategic approach. “I’m looking forward to building a bond and relationship with every coach on the staff honestly,” Gomiller explained.

His rationale is that coaching staff dynamics can change, and building a wide network provides a better understanding of the program. “I feel like it’s better to learn and grow with every coach on the staff because you never know where coaches will end up over time. So I think it’s smart to build a relationship with them all and really get a great feel for how it would be if I played there.”

Upcoming Visit

A visit to East Lansing is definitely on Gomiller’s agenda. He plans to schedule a trip to Michigan State as soon as possible, balancing it with his upcoming season.

“I definitely plan on visiting as soon as possible,” he stated. “I just know with our season approaching I’ll have to schedule it ahead of time but I’m definitely looking forward to going back.”

Top Schools

Several schools are currently standing out for Gomiller as he navigates the recruiting process. “Right now, schools like Michigan State, Kansas State, Indiana, and Maryland are standing out to me,” he said. “Mainly because of their constant communication and the team success they’ve had recently and even in the past. They’re all great programs.”

These schools have impressed him with their consistent communication and track records of success. Notably, studies show that consistent communication from recruiters significantly impacts a player’s decision (NCSA Sports 2023).

Spartan Legends

When Gomiller thinks of Michigan State, iconic athletes come to mind. “I think of Michigan State, the first thing that comes to mind is La’Veon Bell, one of the best RBs the Pittsburgh Steelers have ever had,” he said. “And because I’m a 2 sport athlete, I think of Magic Johnson and Draymond Green as well.”

High Ranking

Michigan State holds a prominent position in Ronnie Gomiller’s current list of potential schools. “The Spartans are definitely in my top 5 schools and destinations right now,” Gomiller confirmed, citing the appealing environment and facilities.

He added, “Because of the environmental location and facilities. All top-notch and one of the best I’ve seen so far.”
