INDIANAPOLIS – Ohio State linebacker Sonny Styles significantly boosted his NFL Draft stock on Thursday at the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine, showcasing impressive athleticism for a player his size. Styles, who began his collegiate career as a safety before transitioning to linebacker in 2024, ran a 4.85-second 40-yard dash and recorded a 33 1/2-inch vertical jump, according to NFL.com.

The performance was particularly notable among taller linebackers, with Styles’ movement skills standing out during positional drills. Scouts observed his smooth operation around obstacles and effective use of his length to disengage from blocking dummies. Chad Reuter, NFL Draft Analyst, noted that Styles’ performance was crucial given his relatively limited production in college, where he registered 4.5 tackles for loss in his last 23 games.

Styles’ combine performance comes as he transitions from a safety role to linebacker, a shift that began in 2024, according to NFL.com. His ability to diagnose play development has reportedly improved during this transition. The NFL Combine continues with workouts for defensive backs and tight ends on Friday, and further evaluations on Sunday.

The 2026 NFL Draft is scheduled to take place in Pittsburgh from April 23-25.
