2026 NASCAR Cup Standings: Reddick Leads After Atlanta I

February 23, 2026 Alex Carter - Sports Editor Sport

Tyler Reddick of 23XI Racing has secured a commanding lead in the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series championship standings after winning the first two races of the season, including a dramatic double-overtime victory Sunday at EchoPark Speedway. Reddick now holds a 40-point advantage over teammate Bubba Wallace.

The back-to-back wins – beginning with the Daytona 500 – mark a significant turnaround for Reddick, who had a winless 2025 season. “Tyler drove his ass off today,” said 23XI Racing owner Michael Jordan following the Atlanta race. “I know we had our little ordeal, but they never gave up, they kept working hard and Here’s the fruit of their labor.” Jordan’s comment alludes to a prior legal challenge faced by the team, now seemingly resolved.

Wallace currently sits second in the standings, having achieved top-ten finishes in both the Daytona 500 and the Autotrader 400. Chase Elliott is third, eight points behind Wallace. Carson Hocevar, Zane Smith, Joey Logano, and Daniel Suarez round out the top ten.

The early championship picture reveals a competitive field, with 38 different drivers having scored points through the first two races. Several drivers who participated in the opening races have not yet declared for full-season Cup points, impacting the current standings. Notable drivers positioned further down the leaderboard include Denny Hamlin (27th), Christopher Bell (31st), and NASCAR veteran Alex Bowman (32nd). Rookie Connor Zilisch currently occupies 36th place.

Reddick’s victory at EchoPark Speedway was particularly notable as he crossed the finish line without a right front fender, a testament to his driving skill and the durability of his vehicle. “That’s crazy isn’t it,” Reddick remarked after the race. “This place over the years, man. It just puts on some amazing racing. Handling matters here, but I don’t know, apparently determination outweighs handling.”

The race featured multiple cautions, including one triggered by William Byron’s tire failure in the closing laps, which ultimately led to the double-overtime finish. The incident collected six cars, setting the stage for Reddick’s dramatic win. Carson Hocevar had briefly led on the last lap of the previous week’s race before a late crash.

The NASCAR Cup Series is scheduled to continue next weekend, with the next race location yet to be announced.
