2026 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class: Luxury Redefined with Tech & Design Updates
Mercedes-Maybach unveiled a significantly updated S-Class sedan today, marking 105 years of the ultra-luxury brand with a vehicle designed for bespoke customization. The redesigned model, presented just over two months after the debut of the refreshed standard S-Class, integrates new technology and design elements intended to establish a new benchmark in the luxury automotive sector.
A key innovation is the integration of MB.OS, Mercedes-Benz’s internally developed operating system, debuting for the first time in a Maybach vehicle. Paired with the fourth-generation MBUX infotainment system, MB.OS enables over-the-air software updates. The digital experience is further enhanced by an artificial intelligence assistant leveraging generative AI capabilities from ChatGPT 4o, Microsoft Bing, and Google Gemini.
Exterior changes center on the redesigned grille, now 20% larger than the previous iteration, and featuring illuminated “Maybach” lettering within the frame. The signature double-star headlights incorporate rose gold accents, while the available forged wheels in silver finish include a Mercedes star that remains perpetually upright thanks to an internal ball-bearing mechanism. An integrated projector in the door sills casts the Maybach logo onto the ground when the doors are opened. A new nautical blue metallic paint finish is available for the Night Series.
The interior has undergone a comprehensive redesign, encompassing the steering wheel, center console, ambient lighting, and door panels. The centerpiece is the MBUX Superscreen, combining a 36.6 cm central display with a 31.2 cm passenger display. Customers can now specify interiors completely free of leather, with a “storm grey” combination utilizing ARTICO man-made leather and Mirville fabric – a blend of linen and recycled polyester.
Rear passengers benefit from two 13.1-inch displays, automatically opening and closing doors, a 10-liter refrigerated compartment, and silver-plated champagne flutes from Robbe & Berking.
The powertrain lineup has been re-engineered with mild-hybrid technology across all combustion engine options. The S 680 model features an eight-cylinder M 177 Evo engine producing 630 hp (450 kW) plus an additional 22 hp (17 kW) from the electric boost. The S 680 V12 remains available for select markets as a continued symbol of power. The S 580 e is a plug-in hybrid variant offering up to 100 km of zero-emission range.
The MANUFAKTUR program offers over 150 exterior paint colors and 400 interior combinations. A new “Made to Measure” service allows for the creation of truly unique vehicles, providing access to historical colors and unlimited leather options.
Series production begins in April 2026 at the Factory 56 in Sindelfingen, Germany, described as the world’s most advanced automotive factory. Customers can observe the production of their vehicles firsthand at the MANUFAKTUR Studio.
The 2026 Mercedes-Maybach S 680 4MATIC has a starting MSRP of $244,400, according to Mercedes-Benz USA.
