Liam Higgins has been named to the All-Metropolitan First Team, becoming the first Maritime College football player to receive the honor as 2014. The announcement recognizes Higgins’ outstanding performance as a defensive lineman during the 2023 season, solidifying his place among the region’s elite players.

The All-Metropolitan team, selected by the Metropolitan College Football Writers Association, honors the top players from NCAA Division II and III institutions across the New York metropolitan area. The junior defensive tackle anchored the Privateers’ defence, leading the team with 8.5 tackles for loss and adding 4.5 sacks. Higgins recorded 48 total tackles, including 25 solo stops, and forced one fumble throughout the 2023 campaign. His disruptive presence consistently challenged opposing offenses and played a crucial role in Maritime’s defensive success.
