Vols Finish Sixth at Fallen Oak collegiate Invitational
PACIFIC SPRINGS, Miss. – The University of Tennessee men’s golf team concluded play Tuesday at the Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational, securing a sixth-place finish among a competitive field. The Volunteers posted a team score of -14, trailing co-leaders Alabama and LSU by 18 strokes.
The tournament, held at the Grand Reserve Golf Club in Pacific Springs, Mississippi, marked the end of the fall season for Tennessee. The result provides a benchmark for the team’s progress as it prepares for a spring schedule beginning February 9th at the Puerto Rico Classic. Individual performances highlighted the week, with Lance Simpson leading the way for the vols.
Simpson carded a final-round 70 to finish at 6-under par (210), tying for ninth place overall. Josh Hill followed with a -4 (212) after a final-round 69, securing a tie for 13th. Chase Kyes finished at 2-under (214) and tied for 23rd after a third-round 71.
Reed Lotter and Jackson Herrington both finished at even-par (216), tying for 34th place. Luke Smith rounded out the Tennessee contingent, tying for 54th with a total score of +5 (221).
