11-Year-Old Boy Dies in Lecce After Sudden Illness | Italy News

An 11-year-old boy died at his home in Lecce, Italy, on Monday after experiencing a sudden illness. The child, of Senegalese origin, reportedly felt unwell at school earlier in the day, prompting school officials to alert his father, who then took him home.

Once at home, the boy’s condition deteriorated, and he lost consciousness in the bathroom, according to initial reports. Paramedics were called to the scene and transported him to the emergency room at Ospedale Vito Fazzi in Lecce, where medical staff attempted resuscitation for an extended period, but were unable to save him.

The boy’s father, Diene Cheik Amadou Bamba, known professionally as Khadim, is a member of the musical group Ghetto Eden, formed in 1998. The group consists of four musicians, two from Senegal and two from the Salento region of Italy, and has collaborated with artists including Sud Sound System. Khadim reportedly told doctors at the Vito Fazzi hospital that his son had been experiencing a persistent cough for several days. He had given the boy coffee with biscuits and honey upon returning home from school, hoping to alleviate his discomfort.
