September 4, 2026 Emma Walker – News Editor News

On a Thursday afternoon, a tragic incident unfolded in the Beverly Grove neighborhood of Los Angeles when a 91-year-old female driver crashed her vehicle into a parking attendant stand and a group of pedestrians in a Trader Joe’s parking lot, leaving one person dead and four others injured, according to local authorities.

Incident Details at 7900 W. Third Street

The collision occurred at approximately 1:21 p.m. on Thursday at 7900 W. Third Street, just west of Fairfax Avenue and across from The Original Farmers Market, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. Witnesses reported to local media that the driver lost control upon entering the lot, struck a parked vehicle, and then swerved into a group of people before pinning against a partially crushed structure.

One woman was pronounced dead at the scene, with her identity withheld pending notification by the coroner’s office. Los Angeles Fire Department Capt. Cody Weireter told reporters that the victim who died was a woman likely in her 30s. Four other individuals, including the elderly driver, were transported to area hospitals for medical treatment.

Victim Status and First Responder Response

Emergency medical personnel treated patients directly at the scene using a white canopy over the deceased victim while firefighters tended to the injured. Among those hospitalized was a 19-year-old man listed in serious condition, alongside two women aged 57 and 30 who sustained minor injuries. The 91-year-old driver was also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Mayor Karen Bass issued a statement expressing deep sadness over the tragedy and confirmed that the city deployed members of its crisis response team to provide emotional support and resources to affected families. The volunteer-based program aids those dealing with sudden traumatic incidents.

Ongoing Investigation and Municipal Impact

The Los Angeles Police Department launched an active investigation into the mechanics and cause of the crash. The exact sequence of events that led the vehicle off course is being examined by the department.
