Seoul Launches ₩275.5 Billion ‘Seoul Love Gift Certificate’ too Boost Local Economy
Seoul, South Korea – September 8, 2025 – The City of Seoul today announced the issuance of ₩275.5 billion (approximately $212.4 million USD) in “Seoul Love Gift Certificates” designed to stimulate the local economy and provide relief to both businesses and residents facing economic headwinds ahead of the holiday season. the certificates will be available for purchase at a 7% discount, offering consumers added value while directing spending towards local establishments.
This initiative directly addresses growing concerns about a domestic economic slowdown. Lee Hae-sun, Director of Labor and Labor for Seoul, explained that the discounted certificates are “expected to be a practical help to small businesses and citizens who are struggling with the domestic recession ahead of the holidays.” The program aims to revitalize local commerce by encouraging spending within the city, particularly benefiting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).The Seoul Love Gift certificates operate continuously, offering flexibility for both purchasers and recipients.
