MALIBU, Calif. – Kiss bassist Gene simmons was hospitalized tuesday after his SUV collided wiht a parked vehicle along the Pacific Coast Highway, authorities confirmed. The 76-year-old musician lost control of his vehicle, crossing multiple lanes before the impact in Malibu.
Simmons was evaluated at a local hospital and subsequently released, reporting his condition as good. The incident occurred despite Kiss’s recent retirement from conventional touring after a remarkable five-decade run,and comes just ahead of a planned performance in Las Vegas this November. The band was also recently announced as honorees at this year’s Kennedy Center Honors by President Donald Trump in August.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and multiple news reports, first responders transported Simmons to the hospital following the crash. He addressed fans via social media, stating, “Thanks, everybody, for the kind wishes. I’m wholly fine. I had a slight fender bender. It happens.”
While the cause of Simmons losing control of the vehicle remains under examination, the incident highlights the vulnerability of even iconic figures to everyday accidents. Kiss concluded their farewell tour in 2023,but continues to explore innovative performance avenues, including a planned event in Las Vegas and the prestigious kennedy Center recognition.
