OLYMPIA, Wash. – The Evergreen State College women’s wrestling team is poised for a strong season,earning a fourth-place ranking in the 2025-26 Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Preseason Poll,the conference announced today. The Geoducks begin their third intercollegiate season at the Simon Fraser university International Open on Saturday, November 1 in Burnaby, British Columbia.
Evergreen is the only four-year collegiate programme offering women’s wrestling in the state of Washington. Last year, the team finished fourth at the 2025 CCC Championship Tournament and placed 16th at the 2025 NAIA Women’s Wrestling Championships.
University of Providence (Mont.) topped the CCC Preseason Poll with 62 points and six of eight first-place votes. Southern Oregon University followed in second with 58 points and two first-place votes, having won the CCC Championship last season. Eastern Oregon University was third with 43 points, while Evergreen secured fourth place with 42 points. Westcliff University (Calif.) and Simpson University (Calif.) rounded out the top six with 34 and 21 points, respectively. Arizona christian University (17 points) and Hope International University (Calif.) (11 points) completed the poll.
Key returning wrestlers for Evergreen include senior Flor Parker Borrero, senior Nizhoni Tallman, and junior Shannon Workinger. Parker Borrero is a two-time NAIA All-American, placing sixth in the 155-pound weight class in 2023-24 and third in the 160-pound weight class in 2024-25, earning the Most pins in the Fastest Time award at the latter championship. She also won the CCC Championship at 160 pounds last season and was named CCC Outstanding Wrestler of the Meet. Tallman earned NAIA All-American honors in 2024-25, finishing eighth in the 110-pound weight class. Workinger, a transfer from Menlo College, redshirted in 2024-25 but qualified for the USA National Team after taking second place at the U-23 National championships in the 68-kilogram weight class in 2025.
New additions to the Geoducks roster include transfer Haley Le from North Central College in Illinois, a three-time Oregon State Champion, and Ruby Clark from Toppenish High School in Washington, a Regional Champion and Washington State Championships placer.
