Apple⁣ Expands Features to Older Devices: AirPods Translation & Apple Watch Health Updates

Cupertino, CA – While Apple’s Tuesday presentation focused on⁤ its ⁢latest hardware, several key details emerged regarding software updates that will extend functionality to existing devices. Users of older Apple ⁣Watches and AirPods will soon enjoy‍ features‌ previously thought exclusive to the newest models.

AirPods Translation Feature⁣ Coming to⁤ Older Models

The headline-grabbing live translation feature showcased with the new AirPods Pro 3 isn’t limited to the latest earbuds. Thanks to‌ the H2 chip⁤ – also found in the AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 4 (with Noise Cancellation) – this functionality will‌ be rolled out to those older models via a software update.

Currently, the translation ‌feature supports German, English, French, Portuguese, and Spanish. apple plans to expand language support by the end of the year, adding Chinese (Simplified), Italian, Japanese, and Korean. users will need to be running iOS 26 or later on their paired iPhone to access the feature.

Apple Watch Health Features Get a Boost – For Some

Apple is also extending ⁢some of its new health capabilities to older Apple Watch models. The new blood pressure notification‍ feature will be available on watches equipped with the S9 and S10 chips, including the Series 9,‌ Series 10, Ultra 2, SE 3, and Ultra 3. Unfortunately, owners of the Series 8 and the original Apple ⁤Watch ⁢Ultra will not receive‌ this update.

Though, a ⁤new‌ sleep score designed to provide more detailed sleep quality analysis ‍ will be available to a wider range of users – those with an Apple Watch Series 6 or⁢ later, or an Apple Watch SE 2.

iPhone-Specific MagSafe Battery

Apple’s ‍new MagSafe battery pack is designed specifically for‍ the iPhone 15 Air. Its‌ slim profile and magnetic attachment seamlessly integrate with the phone’s design. ‌ Due to the camera layout on other iPhone models, the battery will not be compatible ⁤with devices outside the iPhone 15 air lineup. This marks a departure⁤ from the original MagSafe battery, wich offered broader compatibility before the shift to USB-C.
