AI and Next-Gen EVs Dominate World Smart Industry Expo in Chongqing
Chongqing, China – September 8, 2025 - The World Bright Industry Exhibition 2025 opened September 5th in Chongqing, showcasing over 3,000 innovations from more than 550 companies. This year’s expo prominently featured advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and New Energy Vehicles (NEVs), demonstrating the transformative impact of these technologies on both industry and daily life.The exhibition, themed “AI+”, highlighted key areas including digital urban governance, robotics, intelligent living solutions, and the emerging low-altitude economy. Singapore was recognized as the “guest country of honor,” while Sichuan province held the title of ”guest province of honor.”
A central focus of the opening ceremony was the role of AI in driving societal change.Harry Shum heung-Yeung, President of the council of the University of Science and Technology of Hong Kong and a member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering, discussed the increasing sophistication of integrated intelligence, envisioning robots capable of real-world learning, adaptation, and collaboration. Cedrik Neike,board Member and CEO of Digital Industries at Siemens AG,emphasized AI’s acceleration of software-defined automation,enabling greater versatility,efficiency,and sustainability across industries.
The expo hosted 11 dedicated events centered on AI, digital conversion, and investment, attracting participation from industry giants like Huawei and baidu, alongside 40 investment institutions. Agreements totaling over 200 billion yuan (approximately $27.5 billion USD) were signed during the event, with 120 billion yuan finalized on-site.
The exhibition also showcased initiatives designed to bolster regional manufacturing. Geely’s intelligent manufacturing project is expected to strengthen supply chains and contribute to the growth of Chongqing’s “33618” advanced manufacturing cluster – a municipal strategy focused on modernizing industries including NEVs, electronics, materials, food processing, textiles, and biomedicine.
The NEV pavilion featured 20 global automotive manufacturers, including Changan, BYD, and Tesla, supported by over 100 component suppliers and partners. Displays highlighted advancements in intelligent driving systems, software-defined vehicles, and intelligent manufacturing processes.
Several new technologies were launched at the expo, including Changan’s “SDA Intelligence” brand, Chongqing’s low-altitude smart airspace management service platform, an open AI computing architecture, the sugon AI supercomputing system, and the Snow Challenge from China.
Formerly known as the Smart China Expo, the World Intelligent Industry Exhibition – first held in 2018 - has established itself as a key platform for digital innovation, bringing together industry leaders, academics, and policymakers to showcase technological progress and foster global collaboration.
