Tomorrow X Together’s Yeonjun Embarks on Solo Journey with ‘No Labels,’ a Quest for Self-Discovery
Tomorrow X Together member Yeonjun is stepping into the spotlight as a solo artist with the release of his album,No Labels,a project he describes as a deeply personal exploration of identity and artistic freedom. The album marks a significant moment in Yeonjun’s career, allowing him to define himself outside the established framework of his group and connect with audiences on a more intimate level.
The concept of “No Labels” resonated with Yeonjun as a challenge to shed preconceived notions and embrace authenticity.He reflects that prior to working on the album, he questioned whether he truly lived up to the description of someone “without labels,” acknowledging times he felt constrained. Through the creative process, Yeonjun discovered a stronger sense of self, stating, “Through this album, I was able to know more about myself. It was a process of learning about me. Compared to before, I’ve become a person who’s closer to the description of No Labels. It has a really significant meaning for me, and I think also through this label I became more me.”
Yeonjun acknowledges the inherent uncertainty of artistic reception, recognizing that not everyone will connect with his work. However, he prioritizes artistic integrity over popular appeal. “Of course, it would be great if a lot of people like this album, but for sure there will be people who don’t,” he said. “How people see me or my music isn’t the most significant thing to me. Rather than trying to meet everyone’s expectations, I just try to focus on making music that I truly love and believe in.That feels the most meaningful to me. Ultimately, I would like to be perceived as a person who makes music as he wants.”
This solo venture follows a similar conversation with his group, TXT, regarding perceptions of their work, but Yeonjun emphasizes the distinct experience of expressing his individual artistry. No Labels represents a pivotal step in his evolution as a performer, driven by a desire for genuine self-expression and a commitment to creating music that resonates with his own artistic vision.
