Right-Wing Rioters Inflict €55,000 in Damage to The Hague Buildings Following anti-Immigration Protest
The Hague – following an anti-immigration exhibition on the malieveld that escalated into unrest, a group of rioters caused meaningful damage in the city center, targeting government buildings including the Binnenhof. Damage is estimated at approximately €55,000.
The Ministry of Housing adn Spatial Planning reports that several monumental windows at the House of Representatives were shattered during the riot. An entrance gate also sustained severe damage, requiring complete replacement.
The demonstration was organized by a 26-year-old woman, identifying herself as “Els” on the right-wing political spectrum. She successfully raised €20,000 through crowdfunding to finance the event. Details regarding the fundraising process and expenditure can be found here.

The question of whether insurance will cover the damages remains under discussion. The D66 party has stated its intention to seek reimbursement for the costs from those responsible for the destruction.
