Porsche Unleashes 701-HP 911 Turbo S with Revolutionary Electric turbocharging

MUNICH, GERMANY – ⁤Porsche today unveiled the ‌2026 911 ‍Turbo S ⁣at IAA Mobility, boasting a staggering 701 horsepower and a 0-60 mph time‍ of just 2.4 seconds⁣ - making it⁢ one of the quickest accelerating production 911s ever. The performance ‌leap is driven by ⁣a ‌groundbreaking hybrid powertrain centered around a pair of⁢ electrically‍ assisted turbochargers, a⁢ technology first introduced in the recently ⁢reviewed 911 GTS T-Hybrid.

This‌ isn’t simply ⁣an electric motor added‌ to a conventional engine. Porsche⁤ engineers⁣ developed an entirely new ‌3.6-liter ‍flat-six,allowing them to ⁣eliminate‍ the traditional belt drive and power ancillary components directly from the car’s 400V traction battery. The core innovation lies in the electric turbochargers, which function similarly to ‌the MGU-H system used ⁢in Formula ⁤1 cars.⁣ These⁢ turbos spin up ⁤to 120,000 rpm almost instantaneously, eliminating turbo ‌lag and together recovering energy from the exhaust‍ stream to‌ recharge the 1.9 kWh battery pack.

The result ⁣is a turbocharged ⁣engine with throttle response akin to an‍ electric vehicle, delivering power with no ⁢perceptible delay.Complementing the twin-turbo setup⁤ is ⁢a 53 hp (40 kW)‌ and 110 lb-ft ⁢(150 Nm) permanent⁢ synchronous motor integrated within⁣ the eight-speed ⁣dual-clutch transmission. This combined output translates to 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of⁤ torque and allows the 2026 Turbo S to⁣ reach 124 mph (200 km/h) in just‍ 8.4 seconds -⁢ half a second quicker then the 2025 Turbo ⁣S.
