It’s an old rule in business that a good salesperson doesn’t pay an invoice until the last day of the period.
And it looks like the Green Bay Packers are applying that business know-how to Aaron Rodgers’ proposed trade to the New York Jets.
Which would mean the much-anticipated blockbuster deal doesn’t happen until day two of the NFL draft on April 28.
Because the package that the Packers will receive in return for star quarterback Rodgers probably includes at least one, maybe both second-round picks by the Jets in this draft.
The first-round pick – at least this year – seems unlikely according to numerous experts.
Rodgers trade could happen while the pick is on the clock
The Jets currently have the picks of 42 – a trade from Elijah Moore to the Cleveland Browns – and 43 in the second round of the draft.
Normally, with picks of this size, it only makes sense to trade when the pick is actually on the clock.
Only then is it clear which players are actually available. In addition, your own draft strategy remains impenetrable to the competition. According to ProFootballTalk, it would even come as a surprise if the Packers and Jets didn’t finalize the trade during the draft.
On April 28th, high tension is announced. Because with the 42nd pick in this year’s draft, a lot more could happen than just a rookie being drafted by the New York Jets.
