Saraya Expresses Desire for WWE Return,moved by Fan Support
NEW YORK,NY – former AEW Women’s World Champion Saraya has publicly expressed her interest in returning to WWE,fueled by an outpouring of support from fans online and a rekindled passion for in-ring competition. The wrestler, known as Paige during her initial run with the company, departed AEW in March following a mutual agreement.
Saraya revealed she was deeply touched by the volume of fans requesting her return to WWE,admitting the attention sparked insecurity. “Thousands of people doing videos being like, ‘Please bring Saraya back, please bring Paige back.’ And I get excited – as I keep forgetting, I feel like people don’t like me anymore,” she said. “It made me really emotional for the past couple of days…Oh my god, people still like me. and they still wont me to be around.’ That’s probably the best feeling in the world for me.”
This renewed fan enthusiasm comes as Saraya explores new ventures, including launching the podcast “Rulebreakers.” However, she also feels a strong pull to return to wrestling, specifically aiming to evolve her in-ring style.”I feel like the past couple of years,I wasn’t fully invested in it as much. but I just found my love for it again,” she stated. “I want to be Paige again – like the way she wrestled – the way Paige wrestled in NXT. I want that back,and I want to upgrade her.”
Saraya’s initial WWE career was cut short in 2017 due to neck injuries, leading to her medical disqualification and eventual departure in 2022. She than joined AEW for a two-plus year run, achieving championship success. A return to WWE would mark her first time competing in the ring for the promotion as 2017.
She also expressed interest in possibly reuniting with former tag team partner AJ Lee, stating, “With AJ, I would love to be her tag partner again or run it back eventually…Maybe one day, we’ll see.”
