Penn Women’s Cross Country Finishes Eighth at Paul Short Run
BETHLEHEM,Pa. – The University of Pennsylvania women’s cross country team secured an eighth-place finish out of 40 teams at the Paul Short Run held on October 3, 2025, at Lehigh University’s Goodman Campus. Competing against a field of 352 athletes in the Gold race, the Quakers demonstrated strong individual performances and team cohesion.
The Paul short Run is a meaningful early-season test for collegiate cross country programs, providing a benchmark for progress and a preview of championship-level competition. This year’s showing for Penn indicates continued development within the programme as it prepares for the upcoming Ivy league season and regional championships.
Lily Murphy led the Quakers, completing the 6k course in 20:01.0 to finish 10th overall.Lara Cota followed closely behind, crossing the finish line in 20:51.7 for 55th place. Gabby Jones was right on her heels, securing 56th with a time of 20:51.9. Anna Weirich finished in 20:56.5,claiming 62nd,while Izzy Rodriguez rounded out the scoring runners in 99th place with a time of 21:17.1.
On the men’s side, the Quakers finished 24th of 40 teams in the Gold race, comprised of 354 runners. Kofi Fordjour paced the Penn men, finishing 83rd overall with a time of 21:19.7. George keen completed the 8k in 24:27.0 (139th), followed by Shane Murphy (24:47.7,142nd),Shamus Larnard (24:29.1, 149th), and Liam Going (24:53.6, 159th).
