Karina Gottschalk Reveals Early Warning Signs Before Husband Thomas Gottschalk’s Cancer Diagnosis
Berlin, Germany – Karina Gottschalk, wife of German television icon Thomas Gottschalk, has spoken publicly for the first time about the subtle changes she observed in her husband prior to his recent cancer diagnosis. The 75-year-old presenter revealed earlier this week he is battling a rare and aggressive form of cancer called epithelioid angiosarcoma,a malignant tumor originating in the cells of blood vessels.
According to an interview with “Bild,” Karina, 63, noticed a significant shift in Thomas’s behavior months ago. “I had the feeling that something was wrong. He moved considerably less than usual and was simply no longer the same,” she stated. Her insistence that he seek medical attention proved crucial, as doctors ordered immediate surgery upon discovering the tumor.
Karina recalled the urgency of the situation, noting that a delay of even six months could have had fatal consequences: “If we had waited six months longer – I don’t know whether Thomas would still be with me today.” Thomas gottschalk has since undergone two operations and is currently managing pain with opioid medication, which he described as leaving him feeling as though “my head was being thrown through a washing machine.”
Despite the ongoing treatment, Gottschalk is scheduled to appear alongside Barbara Schöneberger and Günther Jauch in the final episode of RTL’s “Because they don’t know what’s happening” next Saturday, a commitment made at his “express request,” according to the broadcaster. Another MRI scan is planned in approximately two months to assess his progress.
