Apple Music Pins in iOS 26 Gain Customizable Tap Actions
Cupertino, CA – October 26, 2025 – A quietly rolled-out feature within Apple Music’s pinned music functionality in iOS 26 is adding a new layer of customization for users, allowing them to define specific actions triggered by tapping on pinned song, album, or playlist shortcuts. This enhancement builds upon the existing pinned music feature, which already streamlined access to frequently played content, adn offers a more personalized listening experiance.
Previously, all pinned items defaulted to a “Go to” action. Now, users can configure each pin to either “Play” the content promptly or “Shuffle” it, providing tailored control over how their music begins.Apple’s inclusion of this granular customization-the ability to assign a unique Tap Action to each individual pin-is a standout element of the update.
“I love that Apple not only built this level of customization into pins, but it also lets you set a different Tap Action for each unique pin,” notes 9to5Mac. The ability to customize the Tap action further enhances the convenience of pinned music, already a notable enhancement to music playback initiation within the operating system.
Apple has not yet announced future plans for expanding the Tap Action options, but users are encouraged to share their feedback and experiences with the feature in the comments.
