SNP Calls for Parliament to Remove Prince Andrew’s Titles

London – The Scottish National party (SNP) is escalating pressure on the UK Labor government to formally strip Prince Andrew ⁣of his titles, lodging a motion in parliament demanding legislative action. The move comes ‌as the SNP accuses Westminster parties of “stubbornly slow” progress on the issue, despite ongoing⁢ scrutiny surrounding Prince⁢ Andrew’s association‍ with convicted‍ sex⁤ offender Jeffrey Epstein.

The SNP’s‌ motion asserts that removing Prince Andrew’s titles requires an act ⁢of Parliament, positioning the motion as a direct challenge to Keir starmer’s government to prioritize the legislation. This latest effort builds on a similar motion filed in September targeting the peerage of Lord Mandelson, who was removed from his post as ambassador to the USA following revelations about his relationship with Epstein.

“the only real question is, what Keir Starmer’s government is waiting for? The public knows this is the right ⁤thing to⁤ do, and even more importantly the⁢ victims at the heart ‌of the Epstein scandal know that it’s the right thing to do. ⁤It needs to be done without any further excuses and any further delay,” said SNP Westminster leader Stephen⁢ Flynn MP.

Flynn added, “I sincerely hope ⁣for the sake of⁢ all Jeffrey‌ Epstein’s victims,⁢ that Keir Starmer’s government changes⁤ course, supports this SNP ‌motion and brings ⁣forward legislation to remove Prince Andrew’s titles⁤ and Peter Mandelson’s peerage, immediately.”

Prince Andrew ceased using the title His ⁤Royal Highness (HRH) in 2022 amid a US civil action brought by Virginia Giuffre alleging sexual assault. He has⁢ consistently denied the allegations but settled the case out‍ of court with⁤ no admission of liability. Lord Mandelson was dismissed as ambassador to the‌ USA⁢ after the extent of his friendship with ⁤Epstein became public.
