Romania: €130M Fuel Subsidy for Farmers Approved for 2026

The Moldovan government has allocated 620 million lei (approximately $33.7 million USD) from the 2026 budget of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MADR) to fund state aid for farmers covering the period from July 2025 to December 2025.

The aid will take the form of a reimbursement covering the difference in excise duty on diesel fuel. For 2026, this reimbursement rate is set at 2.697 lei per liter, according to the government’s approved action plan for the 2025-2026 heating season.

The allocation was approved on Thursday, March 20, 2026, as part of a broader effort to support the agricultural sector, according to a report from Moldpres, the national news agency.

The action plan for the 2025-2026 heating season, approved by the government, outlines measures intended to ensure energy security and affordability during the upcoming winter months. The diesel fuel reimbursement is a key component of this plan, aimed at mitigating the financial burden on farmers related to fuel costs.
