PowerBall & PowerBall Plus: R155 Million Jackpot on Friday, 20 March 2024

South Africans have a chance to win a combined R155 million in the PowerBall and PowerBall Plus draws this Friday, March 20, 2026, after no winners emerged from Tuesday’s PowerBall jackpot.

ITHUBA, the operator of the National Lottery in South Africa, has confirmed a guaranteed jackpot of R107 million for the main PowerBall draw. The PowerBall Plus jackpot has climbed to R48 million, bringing the total potential winnings to R155 million.

The PowerBall draw requires players to select five numbers between 1 and 50, and a single PowerBall number from 1 to 20. Each board costs R5.00. PowerBall Plus, introduced in November 2015, offers a second chance to win using the same numbers, for an additional R2.50 per board. The odds of winning are the same for both draws, though PowerBall Plus prizes are typically smaller than the main jackpot.

Tickets are available for purchase nationwide through participating retailers, the official National Lottery SA App, the National Lottery South Africa website, and major banks including FNB, Absa, Nedbank, Standard Bank, Capitec Bank, TymeBank and African Bank. Retail sales close at 20:30 on Friday, March 20, 2026.

ITHUBA provides support to winners of R50,000 or more, including free trauma counselling from professional psychologists and financial advice from accredited advisors. All lottery winnings in South Africa are tax-free and paid directly into the winner’s bank account.

The largest PowerBall payout in South Africa’s history was R232,131,750.69, won by a single ticket holder on February 19, 2019.

The weekly lottery draw schedule includes Daily Lotto and Daily Lotto Plus on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, alongside PowerBall and PowerBall Plus on Tuesdays and Fridays, and Lotto, Lotto Plus 1 & Lotto Plus 2 on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
