OMT Boosts COVID-19 Vaccine Response & Speeds Recovery, New Study Finds
Los Angeles, CA – A groundbreaking new study published in Virus Research reveals that Osteopathic manipulative Treatment (OMT) can substantially enhance the immune response to COVID-19 vaccination and accelerate recovery from breakthrough infections. researchers at Western University of Health Sciences (WesternU) College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific (COMP) found that a brief lymphatic OMT protocol administered alongside vaccination boosted antibody levels and reduced the severity and duration of illness in participants.
The randomized trial, involving 104 participants (with a primary analysis focused on 51 individuals previously uninfected with COVID-19), demonstrated a compelling link between OMT and improved immune function. Participants receiving a five-minute lymphatic OMT session promptly after each vaccine dose, and the day following, exhibited higher antibody levels at three weeks and a sustained, stronger antibody response through 13 weeks compared to those receiving standard care. This effect was particularly pronounced in individuals who had not previously contracted COVID-19.
But the benefits didn’t stop at vaccination. The study also showed that OMT significantly improved outcomes for those who experienced breakthrough infections despite being vaccinated. Participants receiving OMT recovered faster – averaging 4.5 days of illness compared to 8
