Rapper Latto announced she is expecting a child alongside the release of her new single, “Business & Personal,” on Friday. The song serves as a preview to her forthcoming fourth studio album, Big Mama, scheduled for release May 29 via Streamcut and RCA Records.
The announcement was made via the album’s cover art, which depicts Latto with a visible baby bump. In “Business & Personal,” Latto directly addresses speculation surrounding her personal life, including rumors of a relationship with rapper 21 Savage. “Fans say they miss the old me but I wouldn’t be here with my old ways,” she raps on the track. “Tried to put me on front street now they gotta see me on the front page.”
Latto further references the baby’s father with the lyrics, “Got my man sending wires like he doing cable/ Know how to talk to his baby think he Miss Rachel,” and “Yeah they gon hate this/ MVP like SGA I swear I can’t miss/ Ain’t nobody touching me but TSA bitch/ They waitin on Big Mama to drop like GTA 6.”
The release of “Business & Personal” follows a period of relative quiet for the artist, who was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Melodic Rap Performance for her 2024 single “Big Mama” from her third studio album, Sugar Honey Iced Tea. That album arrived in June 2024, following the release of “Somebody” in May 2024 and “Chicken Grease” in August 2024. In September 2024, Latto collaborated with Ice Spice on “Gyatt,” a track that reportedly ended a period of public speculation regarding a feud between the two artists.
According to a pre-save listing on Spotify, “Somebody” will appear as the closing track on Big Mama. The album is 17 songs long and will run for approximately 7 minutes.
Latto performed “Big Mama” and “Sunday Service” at the BET Awards in 2024, according to web search results.
