Home Assistant iCloud Integration Faces Widespread Authentication Issues
September 14, 2025 - Home Assistant users are reporting failures with the iCloud integration following changes to Apple’s security protocols, rendering the connection unusable for many. the issue, stemming from Apple’s implementation of SRP-6a security, began impacting users attempting to link their iCloud accounts to the Home assistant platform.
The core integration, used to track location and status of family members and devices, is currently experiencing an authentication roadblock. Users consistently receive “invalid credentials” errors despite verifying correct Apple IDs and app-specific passwords, including variations across @mac.com, @me.com, and @iCloud.com domains.The problem affects those utilizing the “with family” sharing option and also those attempting connection without it. A GitHub issue (#128830) confirms the problem is a known issue awaiting a fix from Home Assistant developers.
