Dutch Friends Launch Spanish Party Bar in Bold Move Before TV Debut
La Marina, Costa Blanca, Spain – Two friends from Tilburg, Netherlands, have opened a party bar in La Marina, Spain, embarking on a daring entrepreneurial venture documented ahead of their appearance on the popular Dutch television program Ik Vertrek (I’m Leaving). Mitch and Kevin, both 24, launched the bar after impulsively purchasing a building and converting it, despite having no prior experience in the hospitality industry.
The pair arrived in spain with a camper and a spirit of adventure, initially intending to rent apartments. A local brokerS tip led them to purchase the property, which required extensive renovations, including a complete overhaul of the electrical system and relocation of the kitchen from part of a disabled toilet. During the two-month renovation period, they lived in their camper on the property.
They successfully opened their bar to customers within two months of arriving. The demanding schedule includes early morning sports, grocery shopping, cooking, and running the bar late into the night.”The Netherlands was just as fun, but now we live in Spain and with a two-hour flight everyone can always come and visit us,” said Mitch, indicating no plans to return to their home country.
Despite the challenges, the friends remain enthusiastic about their new life. Kevin jokingly advises others to secure permits in advance, but acknowledges their own success comes from a “just do it and see where the ship is stranding” approach.Their story will be featured in an upcoming episode of Ik Vertrek, which began its 27th season on August 30, 2025, following Dutch families and friends as they establish new lives in Spain. The program typically follows participants for at least a year, documenting the highs and lows of their international moves. The episode featuring Mitch and Kevin is available to view on AVROTROS.
