ALO Yoga Debuts Into Footwear With Promising First Runner
Greenwich, CT – Activewear brand ALO Yoga has entered the footwear market with its inaugural performance shoe, the ALO Runner. After a month and 250,000 steps, a recent trial found the sneaker to be a cozy and supportive option for walking, jogging, and casual runs, despite an initial break-in period.
The ALO Runner represents the brand’s first foray beyond apparel, building on its reputation for quality and design. While not without minor drawbacks, the shoe proved durable and well-suited for daily wear, notably in warmer weather. Content strategist alexa Mellardo, who tested the shoes, noted their lightweight feel, breathability, and ample cushioning as key benefits.
Initially, the ALO Runners felt “a tad stiff and rigid” and weren’t as easy to slip on as Mellardo’s preferred Reebok FloatZig 1s. However, she found they became more comfortable with wear. The toe box offered a roomy fit, and the heel cushioning effectively absorbed impact during walks.
Mellardo highlighted the shoe’s sleek design as a positive, noting that its shape complemented her narrow feet and petite frame, avoiding the “chunky” look some sneakers can create. After a month of use, the ALO Runners maintained their structure, support, and overall condition.
“I didn’t expect the brand’s ‘first-ever performance shoe’ to check so many of my boxes-even though I shouldn’t be too surprised, knowing the quality ALO puts into every piece of apparel,” Mellardo stated.
she rated the ALO Runner an 8 out of 10, with the primary downside being the break-in period required to achieve optimal comfort.
