## Germany Reaches Second in FIBA World Rankings following EuroBasket 2025 Victory
Germany has risen to second place in the latest FIBA Men’s World Rankings, propelled by their undefeated championship run at the FIBA eurobasket 2025. This marks a significant jump for the team, who claimed their second continental crown by defeating Turkey in the final.
The United States remains at the top of the rankings, despite finishing third at the 2025 FIBA Americup. The shift in rankings sees Germany swap positions with Serbia, who fell to third after being eliminated in the round of 16 of the EuroBasket.
France held steady at fourth place despite failing to reach the EuroBasket quarter-finals. Canada improved to fifth following a fourth-place finish at the FIBA Americup 2025, while Australia, winners of the FIBA Asia Cup 2025, moved up to sixth, surpassing Spain who struggled in the EuroBasket group phase.
Brazil, after winning the Americup title, climbed two spots to enter the top 10, alongside Argentina and Lithuania.
Turkey experienced the most significant rise within the top 50, jumping to 12th place - their highest ranking as 2001 – after reaching their first EuroBasket final.This advancement saw them overtake Latvia, the Czech Republic, Serbia, Poland, and Greece.
Finland achieved the second-largest climb in the top 20, rising to 17th place after reaching the semi-finals of a continental competition for the first time as 20th.
Further notable movements include Iran improving to 26th and China to 27th following their performances at the FIBA Asia Cup 2025. Angola, winners of the FIBA Afrobasket 2025, rose from 33rd place, while Senegal climbed to 45th after securing a bronze medal at the continental championship. Mali saw the most dramatic advancement, climbing 18 places to 65th after winning a silver medal at the Afrobasket 2025.
Other notable climbers include Sweden and Portugal, both rising nine places to 40th and 47th respectively after reaching the round of 16 at the EuroBasket 2025. In the Americas, Uruguay was the biggest mover among top teams, climbing seven places to 44th after a 7th-place finish at the Americup 2025. Jamaica secured qualification for the FIBA basketball World Championship 2027 Americas qualification and rose from 107th to 95th.
