Czech Coach Hašek Urges Caution Against Faeroe Islands Counterattacks in Crucial Qualifier
Prague – Czech Republic coach Jaroslav Hašek has cautioned his team against conceding unnecessary fouls and set pieces ahead of their crucial World Cup qualifying match against the Faeroe Islands. Despite a recent draw with Croatia diminishing their chances of direct qualification, a win is vital for securing a better playoff position.
Hašek acknowledged the Faeroe Islands’ current form, stating the need to avoid gifting them opportunities through avoidable errors.”Certainly we have to avoid unnecessary fouls, losses, cars, corners. In order not to create so many options for those standards,” hašek said. The Czech Republic currently sits in fourth place in their qualifying group with 6 points from 2 wins, 0 draws, and 4 losses, having a goal difference of 4-13.
The coach emphasized the importance of maintaining focus and avoiding underestimation, warning that even small mistakes could prove costly against a risky opponent. “Any little underestimation, non-international or leaving them a little space means danger from the opponent. We have to watch out to make any unnecessary mistake,” Hašek added.
Hašek stressed the team’s sole objective is to secure a victory. “I just want one and I think all the boys know – we go to the match with the fact that we have to win. We will do what we can do on the pitch. It will be a very challenging match. That someone would play 90 percent.”
Currently, Montenegro holds 6 points, while Gibraltar remains at the bottom with 0 points. The match against the Faeroe Islands represents a critical possibility for the Czech republic to improve their standing and pursue a playoff berth for the 2026 World Cup.
