Congress Hearings: Aviation Security, Pilot Mental Health & Transportation Funding – March 25

The Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee is scheduled to hold a full business meeting on Wednesday, March 25, to consider two aviation-related bills: S. 2378, the SAFEGUARDS Act of 2025, and S. 3257, concerning pilot mental health. The meeting will grab place at 10:00 a.m. In SR-253 Russell.

S. 2378, the SAFEGUARDS Act, focuses on reform of the Aviation Security Capital Fund. Details of the proposed reforms are not immediately available, but the bill was read twice and referred to the committee on July 22, 2025, according to congressional records.

Alongside the fund reform, the committee will too address S. 3257, which specifically targets pilot mental health. The bill’s provisions are expected to be a key point of discussion during the business meeting.

Simultaneously, the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation and Housing will convene a “Member Day” hearing to discuss the priorities of House members related to transportation, and housing. This hearing is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. In 2358-A Rayburn.

the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure is considering a markup of the ALERT Act, legislation focused on aviation safety. While a firm date for the markup has not been announced, it is anticipated to occur this week.
