Comic Relief 2024: Updates, Total Raised & Highlights | UK News

Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day 2026 fundraising efforts culminated in a total of £30 million raised on Friday, announced by host Davina McCall at the close of the three-hour BBC One broadcast, according to reports.

The evening featured a diverse range of comedic performances and sketches, including a parody of the hit reality series The Traitors, starring Anna Friel as Claudia Winkleman. Recent contestants Rachel Duffy and Faraaz Nazoor also participated in the sketch, titled “The Traitors: The Movie – The Sequel,” alongside celebrities such as Vicky Pattison, Iain Stirling, Scott Mills, and Alison Steadman.

Luther star Sir Idris Elba participated in a sketch titled “The Bank Job,” alongside Alison Hammond, Dermot O’Leary, and comedian Chris McCausland, as part of the fundraising appeal. Katherine Ryan also featured prominently, appearing alongside Davina McCall throughout the broadcast and participating in a comedic segment involving “audition tapes” for the roles of Cathy and Heathcliff, a parody of the recent Wuthering Heights adaptation.

Catherine Tate kicked off the broadcast with a rendition of Queen’s “Don’t Stop Me Now” as her character Nan from The Catherine Tate Show, accompanied by dancers dressed as grandmothers. Comedians Nick Mohammed and Joel Dommett also served as co-presenters for the evening.

Earlier in the day, BBC Radio 1 presenter Greg James completed a 630-mile tandem cycling challenge, raising £4 million for the charity. The funds raised will support projects providing food and shelter to those facing hardship both in the UK and internationally.

The broadcast also included a performance by singer Fleur East, who joined the roundtable discussion during the Traitors parody sketch. Lewis Cope, a former Emmerdale star, and Gavin and Stacey actress Alison Steadman also participated in the sketch.
