Burlington, VT – Independent game developer Blüd Brüther released a significant update for its roguelite autobattler, Auto Dungeon, on Steam today, March 19, 2026. The update, titled “Unlockables and Weapons – Keys to the Leviathan’s Vestigial Closet,” introduces a new “Compendium” menu featuring a series of challenges designed to unlock additional cards for use in subsequent gameplay runs.
Each challenge completed within the Compendium unlocks a unique card, according to the developer. These cards introduce new mechanics, ranging in impact from subtle adjustments to game balance to substantial alterations of the overall gameplay experience. Alongside the new unlockable cards, the update also adds over 25 new weapon types to the game.
Auto Dungeon tasks players with conquering the Astral Plane by building an army and defeating five champions to recover stolen rings. The game is built around a procedurally generated world, offering a dynamic and replayable experience. Players collect cards through combat and exploration, utilizing them to summon, fuse, mutate, and capture creatures inspired by classic role-playing game archetypes. The game’s fusion system allows for the repeated combination of units, resulting in uniquely statted and visually distorted creatures with emergent synergies.
According to the developer, the game features approximately 50 handcrafted units, with the potential for countless mutations, ensuring that each playthrough is distinct. Players are encouraged to experiment with trait combinations and discover unconventional strategies. The game world is grid-based, with dynamically generated dungeons, and structures. Players populate room tiles with units, move between rooms, and engage in battles with enemy units occupying adjacent spaces.
The update highlights several core features of Auto Dungeon, including a dynamic roguelite adventure, deep creature customization through enchanting, combining, and mutating, and strategic card-based combat. Players can capture enemy creatures, manipulate the environment, and employ tactical card effects to gain an advantage in battle. The ultimate goal remains conquering the dungeons of the five champions and reclaiming the stolen rings, ultimately dominating the Astral Plane.
Auto Dungeon is available on Steam. Blüd Brüther’s other games can be found on SteamDB (steamdb.info/developer/Bl%C3%BCd%20Br%C3%BCther/). A first gaze at the game, including a playthrough, was recently posted to YouTube (youtube.com/watch?v=eaTvtupCFQo).
