Renowned Cai Luong artist buu Khanh, 82, is currently hospitalized in da Nang due to lung tumors, his son Hong revealed to Thanh Nien newspaper. The artist, known for his work with Huin Long and Minto theater, is facing important challenges navigating the healthcare system due to his age and lack of documentation, compounded by a lack of health insurance.
Buu Khanh’s hospitalization underscores the precarious financial realities faced by many veteran artists in Vietnam. The artist’s son detailed the difficulties in accessing necessary medical care and the uncertainty surrounding further treatment options, including potential transfer to Ho Chi Minh City. Buu Khanh, the younger brother of the late Meritorious Artist Buu Yen, has been a fixture in the Cai Luong scene since childhood, studying vocal music and mastering diverse acting styles.he has performed as a protagonist, singer, and martial artist throughout his career.
Currently residing in Ho Chi Minh City with his fourth wife and son, Buu Khanh’s family is awaiting the results of organizational tests to determine the best course of action. His son expressed deep concern for his father’s well-being, stating, “My father has a lot of age and no documents, so it takes a lot of time… It’s really hard.” He added that his father was initially being cared for in Da Nang before a potential transfer for further treatment.
