Ariana Grande Embraces Glinda‘s Style Beyond the Screen
Ariana Grande,starring as Glinda in the upcoming Wicked film,has revealed she’s been incorporating a piece of her character’s wardrobe into her everyday life. The singer shared a mirror selfie on her Instagram Stories on September 25th,showcasing Glinda’s signature cardigan. She captioned the photo, “have been living in G’s cardigan all week,” adding a bubble emoji referencing Glinda’s magical bubble transportation.
This trend of actors honoring their roles through fashion extends to Grande’s co-star, Cynthia Erivo (Elphaba). Erivo garnered attention during the Wicked press tour, debuting costumes inspired by her character in anticipation of the film’s November 2024 release.
At a recent Los Angeles film screening, erivo wore a vibrant electric green outfit, a clear nod to Elphaba’s iconic skin tone. She later continued the theme in Sydney with a black monochrome ensemble, accessorized with a striking lion’s head necklace - a tribute to the Fainthearted Lion from The Wizard of Oz.
Erivo previously praised her style team’s meticulous work on the elaborate costumes for the 2024 press tour in an interview with People magazine, hinting at similarly detailed looks for future promotional events. She emphasized that each outfit was ”very detailed” and ”very intentional,” promising fans more inspired ensembles to come.
Wicked: for Good is scheduled to premiere on November 21st.
