Apple’s WWDC Announcements ⁢Leave Analysts⁢ Focused ‍on 2026, Despite Optimism

CUPERTINO, Calif. – Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) delivered a mix of incremental updates and future promises, leaving Wall Street analysts largely focused on developments expected in 2026 rather than ‌immediate impacts from this week’s ⁤announcements. While ⁣Apple shares saw a‌ late-week rally, bringing the stock closer to break-even for the year after previously lagging behind companies like Tesla ‍(TSLA), sentiment remains ⁢cautiously optimistic, with analysts divided on further‌ upside.

The unveiling of Apple Intelligence, the⁣ company’s forthcoming AI suite, was met with tempered enthusiasm. Despite excitement around⁣ features like live translation in ⁤the new AirPods Pro 3, many⁣ analysts believe the full potential of Apple’s AI strategy won’t be realized until a meaningful update slated for March-June⁢ 2026. This update is anticipated to leverage a combination of Apple’s own technology and ‌partnerships⁣ with companies like google Gemini,⁢ OpenAI, or Anthropic.

Visible Alpha’s survey of analysts reveals‍ a split opinion, with an equal number of “buy” and “neutral” ratings -⁣ four each – ‍for Apple stock. Only one analyst recommends selling. The consensus⁤ price target of around $240 suggests less than a 3% ‍gain from Friday’s closing price. HSBC analysts reiterated⁢ a neutral rating, stating Apple ⁣Intelligence “is⁣ still not delivering on all promises made in 2024.”

However, some firms ⁣remain bullish. Citi⁢ analysts suggest the recent Air updates may be “laying the groundwork for a foldable phone next year, which we expect could drive ‌a stronger⁢ replacement cycle.” Morgan Stanley analysts, while acknowledging the significant Apple Intelligence update ⁣is likely over a year away, expressed optimism and ⁣indicated they would be buyers on any potential‍ dips in the stock price following ⁤the event.

UBS also maintained ⁢a neutral rating, noting that even the lauded translation ⁤features are‍ not⁤ expected to be a “meaningful driver” ⁢of sales in the immediate future. Despite the focus on future developments, the overall outlook for Apple ⁣remains positive, with⁣ analysts anticipating continued innovation and ⁣potential growth in the coming‍ years.
