The trailer for “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” shattered records, becoming the most viewed movie trailer of all time with 718.6 million views within 24 hours of its digital release on Wednesday, according to Variety.
The impressive debut surpassed the previous record held by the trailer for “Deadpool & Wolverine” (2024), which garnered 365 million views. Notably, “Brand New Day’s” trailer exceeded 373 million views in just eight hours, already eclipsing the previous benchmark set by “Deadpool 3,” which was revealed during the 2024 Super Bowl.
“Deadpool & Wolverine” itself had previously broken records, surpassing the 24-hour view count of 355.5 million achieved by the trailer for “Spider-Man: No Way Home” in 2021.
“Brand New Day” marks Tom Holland’s return as Spider-Man following the critically and commercially successful “No Way Home,” which brought together previous actors who portrayed the character – Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield – and grossed $1.9 billion worldwide.
The film features Holland alongside Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando, and Mark Ruffalo. Destin Daniel Cretton directs the film, with a screenplay by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. The story is based on the Marvel comic book created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko.
According to an official synopsis, the film is set four years after the events of “No Way Home.” Peter Parker is now a solitary adult, having intentionally removed himself from the lives and memories of those he loves. Despite this personal isolation, he continues his full-time commitment to fighting crime in New York City. However, escalating demands on his abilities trigger a “surprising physical evolution” that threatens his highly existence, coinciding with the emergence of a powerful new criminal threat.
“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is scheduled for exclusive release in movie theaters on July 31, 2026.
