The first image from Martin Scorsese’s upcoming thriller, What Happens at Night, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence, has been released by Apple Original Films, confirming the film is now in production.
The still, shared on Thursday, depicts DiCaprio sporting a mustache and walking through a snowy landscape alongside Lawrence. The film, adapted from the novel of the same name by Peter Cameron, follows a married American couple as they travel to a tiny, snowy European town to adopt a baby, according to Apple Studios.
This marks the latest collaboration between Scorsese and DiCaprio, following their critically acclaimed 2023 film, Killers of the Flower Moon, which received ten Academy Award nominations. Jennifer Lawrence too has an existing relationship with Apple Original Films, having previously worked on projects including Causeway and Bread & Roses, and is currently involved in the upcoming murder mystery The Wives as both a star and producer.
Patricia Clarkson, Jared Harris, and Mads Mikkelsen are also set to appear in What Happens at Night. The script was written by Patrick Marber. The film is a partnership between Apple Studios and Studiocanal, and is being produced by Scorsese’s Sikelia Productions.
Welker White has also been cast in the film, according to previously reported casting news.
