Ubatuba: Pet Rabies Vaccination Schedule & Locations

Ubatuba to Hold Rabies Vaccination Drive in Sertão do Ubatumirim Next Wednesday

UBATUBA, SP – Residents ‌of Sertão do⁣ Ubatumirim will have access to⁢ free rabies vaccinations for their ⁢dogs and‍ cats next Wednesday, October 15th, as part of Ubatuba’s⁣ ongoing decentralized vaccination schedule. The drive will take place from ⁤10:00⁣ AM to ⁣1:00⁣ PM ‍next to the ​neighborhood Health Center.

The Ubatuba Zoonoses‍ Surveillance Unit has been conducting these neighborhood vaccination ‍events‌ on Wednesdays, recently vaccinating 35 animals⁢ -‍ 10 cats⁤ and ⁢25 dogs – at the​ Association of Remnants of the Quilombo⁣ de⁣ Caçandoca Community on October 8th.

In ⁤addition to the⁢ neighborhood⁣ drives, a fixed vaccination⁤ station​ operates every Tuesday from 10:00 AM to 1:00‌ PM at Praça Capricornio, near the​ skate park on Avenida Iperoig. This central location‌ has already immunized 54 animals – 31 dogs ⁢and 23 cats – since launching on September 30th.

City officials emphasize that prior ‌scheduling ⁣is mandatory for both the decentralized drives and the fixed station. Appointments can be made by calling (12) 3834-2323,⁢ Monday‌ through‌ Friday, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. This⁢ pre-booking ⁢system ‌is ‌in place ‌to ensure organized service and avoid large gatherings.

Owners are⁢ reminded to bring dogs on leashes/collars and cats in carriers. Maintaining distance between animals and minimizing noise are ‌also recommended, notably for cats who‍ require a calm surroundings during ‍vaccination.

The annual rabies vaccination campaign is critical​ in São Paulo state, ‍where the virus primarily circulates through bats.⁣ While the last confirmed case ⁤of canine rabies was in 1998, a recent case⁤ in São Paulo city in 2023 involving a dog infected with a wild variant⁤ underscores the importance ‌of continued vigilance⁤ and immunization efforts.
