High-Speed Internet Expansion Planned for Hurricane and Scott Depot,West Virginia
HURRICANE,W.Va. – Residents and businesses in the Teays Valley area are poised to benefit from a notable expansion of high-speed internet access. Comcast announced Tuesday a multi-year project to connect more than 7,500 additional homes and businesses to its Xfinity network, offering symmetrical internet speeds.
The expansion will focus on Hurricane and scott Depot, two rapidly growing communities in Putnam County. Hurricane is slated to receive connectivity for over 5,000 locations, with initial service expected to be available in early 2026. Scott Depot residents will see over 2,500 locations connected, with service already rolling out to some areas.
“This is fantastic news for Hurricane,” said Mayor Scott edwards. “Comcast’s investment in our community will be a tremendous asset for residents navigating today’s increasingly technology-dependent world. It strengthens our area as a desirable place to live and work.”
Comcast anticipates completing the entire project by 2028. The expansion isn’t limited to Hurricane and Scott Depot; construction is also underway in Princeton, West Virginia, to connect an additional 5,000+ homes and businesses.
