Zach Galifianakis to Star in Mel Brooks‘ ‘very Young Frankenstein’ Reboot
Actor and comedian Zach Galifianakis will lead the cast of “Very Young Frankenstein,” a reimagining of Mel Brooks’ 1974 classic “Young Frankenstein.” The project, announced this week, marks Brooks’s return to the franchise and promises a fresh take on the iconic story.
The reboot aims to recapture the comedic spirit of the original while introducing the tale to a new generation. Mel Brooks’ ”Young Frankenstein” itself was a spoof of Mary Shelley‘s 1818 novel, Frankenstein; or, the Modern Prometheus, and the Universal adaptations starring Boris Karloff. The new film is expected to build on this legacy, offering a contemporary lens on the monster movie genre.
Details regarding other cast members and a release date have not yet been disclosed. Brooks, a rare EGOT winner-having earned an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Award-has not publicly commented on the project. He recently joked about sequel expectations while promoting Spaceballs 2, stating, “After 40 years we asked what do the fans want… but rather, we’re making this movie.”
the original ”Young Frankenstein” is returning to screens this autumn to celebrate its 50th anniversary. The announcement of “Very Young Frankenstein” follows a surge in interest surrounding Brooks’s work and a renewed gratitude for classic comedy.
