Thai Sprinter Phuripon Bunson to Make World Championship Debut in Tokyo
TOKYO, JAPAN – Thailand’s Phuripon Bunson, known as “Biw,” will compete in the 100-meter event at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, marking his first appearance on the world stage. The championships, running from September 13-21 at the Japan National Stadium, will also feature veteran Thai athlete Subenrat Insaeng in the women’s throwing events.
The World athletics Championships 2025 represents a critically important opportunity for the Thai national team, led by rising star Bunson and seven-time SEA Games champion Insaeng.Bunson is scheduled to run in the 100-meter heats/qualifiers on Saturday,September 13th,at 6:35 PM Thai time,with coaching support from “Coach Sos.” Insaeng will begin her qualifying round in the women’s throwing event on the same day at 7:00 AM in group A, under the guidance of Coach Reewon Devonathart.
This year’s competition marks the 20th edition of the World Athletics Championships, held at the Japan National Stadium – the same venue used for the 2020 Olympic Games (held in 2021).
