Weronika Książkiewicz: Cancer Battle, Russian Roots & New Marriage

Polish actress Weronika Książkiewicz recently celebrated a personal milestone, marrying Israeli businessman Heskel Nathaniel on March 21st, her 43rd birthday, following a spiritual ceremony in September. The actress revealed the news in a recent interview with TVP 3, marking a new chapter after a period of personal challenges and professional success.

Książkiewicz, born in Moscow on March 21, 1981, to a Russian father and Polish mother, has often spoken of her dual connection to both cultures. Her father, Fiodor Lewin, a native of Moscow, instilled in her a strong emotionality and adherence to certain traditions, as she recounted in an interview with polki.pl. Despite spending part of her childhood in Russia, Książkiewicz maintained close ties to Poland, regularly visiting her grandmother in Poznań.

The actress’s career gained momentum after graduating from the State Higher School of Film, Television and Theatre in Łódź in 2005. She has since appeared in numerous theatre productions and films, including a notable role in the 2016 romantic comedy Planet Single and the 2021 crime drama Furioza. However, her path hasn’t been without obstacles.

In 2009, Książkiewicz faced a serious health scare when she was diagnosed with a spinal cord tumor even as preparing to compete on the TVN show Taniec z Gwiazdami (Dancing with the Stars). She was forced to withdraw from the competition after just one episode, undergoing surgery to remove the nerve tumor. According to reports, the diagnosis was made quickly thanks to medical checks required for participation in the show. The actress reportedly feared the condition could lead to paralysis and opted for swift surgical intervention.

Prior to her marriage to Nathaniel, Książkiewicz was in a relationship with businessman Krzysztof Latek, with whom she has a son, Borys Aleksander, born in 2010. The couple separated three months after their son’s birth, and Latek passed away in 2024. Książkiewicz described her recent marriage as a “new, very fascinating stage” in her life, and expressed her happiness in finding love after the age of forty.
