USC Volleyball: Leah Ford Wins Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week

USC ​Women’s‍ Volleyball Standout Leah⁤ Ford Earns Big⁤ Ten Defensive ​Player of the Week‌ Honors

Los Angeles – USC Women’s Volleyball freshman Leah Ford has been recognized as the Big‍ Ten Defensive Player of the Week, ⁤the conference announced​ monday. Ford secured‌ the honor ⁣following⁢ a dominant performance‍ that bolstered the Trojans‘ ⁣defensive⁤ efforts‌ during the week of September 1.

This‍ recognition highlights Ford’s immediate impact on the ‍USC program as it transitions into the Big Ten Conference. The Trojans joined the⁢ Big Ten this fall after decades in the ⁢Pac-12, seeking a new competitive ⁤landscape. Ford’s award signifies USC’s ability to attract and develop top-tier talent capable of excelling ‍against the⁢ nation’s best. ‌The weekly award ⁢acknowledges outstanding contributions to team success and⁢ sets a high standard for future ⁢performances as USC navigates its inaugural Big Ten season.

Ford’s defensive prowess was also recognized ⁤later in ​the season, earning her a second Big⁤ Ten Defensive Player of the week award on ‍November 24, 2025.

Other​ USC players earning ⁤weekly Big Ten accolades in 2024 included Mia ‍Tuaniga, named Setter of the Week on September 23 and November 4;‌ Jadyn Livings, recognized as Freshman⁣ of the‍ Week​ on​ September 23; Ally Batenhorst, earning Player‌ of the Week honors on November 4; Reese Messer, securing⁣ Freshman of the Week⁣ on September⁤ 22, October ⁤27, and November 3 (co-Setter of the Week); London Wijay, named ⁢Player of​ the Week on October ⁤20 and ‌November 3; ⁢Taylor Deckert, earning​ Freshman of the Week on October 20; and Abigail ​Mullen, ‍recognized as Freshman ⁤of the week ‌on​ November​ 10.
