Space Brothers Manga Ending: Final Chapters & Volume Release Date

The manga series Space Brothers will conclude with its next three chapters, author Chuya Koyama announced on March 18, 2026, according to multiple reports. The final, 46th volume of the collected editions is scheduled for release on July 23, 2026.

The announcement, initially made via Koyama’s official X account, brings to a close a 19-year serialization that began in December 2007 in Kodansha’s Morning magazine. The series follows the story of Mutta and Hibito Nanba, brothers who share a childhood dream of becoming astronauts and reaching the moon. As of February 2026, Space Brothers had achieved a cumulative print run of over 34 million copies.

The manga gained significant popularity, winning both the 56th Shogakukan Manga Award in the General Category and the 35th Kodansha Manga Award in the General Category in 2011. It was adapted into a 99-episode television anime series that aired from April 2012 to March 2014, and a live-action film was released in May 2012, starring Shun Oguri and Masaki Okada.

Recent storylines, as of 2025, depict Hibito having already achieved his astronaut ambitions and participating in a long-term lunar mission. Mutta, meanwhile, had faced unemployment, but a communication from his brother reignited his pursuit of space travel. Koyama expressed his anticipation for the series’ conclusion, stating he is “looking forward to seeing how it all ends,” according to reports.

Kodansha USA continues to handle the English distribution of the series. The final chapters are expected to resolve the long-standing dreams and promises between the two brothers.
