Singapore Pineapple Recall: Undeclared Sulphur Dioxide Found in Dried Pineapple Slices

A recall has been issued for a batch of dried pineapple slices (400g) in Singapore after the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) detected undeclared sulphur dioxide, an allergen, within the product.

The SFA directed importer Tai Sun (Lim Kee) Food Industries Pte Ltd to initiate the recall on Friday, March 20, 2026. The affected product was primarily distributed through the importer’s warehouse factory sales, according to the agency.

Sulphur dioxide can trigger allergic reactions in sensitive individuals, manifesting as symptoms including hives, stomach discomfort, diarrhoea, and vomiting. While not generally a food safety concern, the SFA emphasized the risk to those with sulphite intolerance or allergies.

Singapore’s Food Regulations mandate the declaration of ingredients known to cause hypersensitivity on food packaging, a measure designed to safeguard consumers with food allergies, the SFA stated.

The agency advises consumers who have purchased the recalled product and have a known intolerance or allergy to sulphites to refrain from consumption. Individuals who have already consumed the product and are experiencing health concerns are advised to seek medical attention.

Consumers with inquiries are encouraged to contact the point of purchase where they obtained the product, the SFA added. The recall is currently underway.
