Shu Reveals Post-Procedure Skin Recovery & Past Gambling Issues

Former S.E.S. Member, Yu Soo-young, known as “Shoo,” has publicly acknowledged a past involving significant gambling debts and legal repercussions, while simultaneously experiencing a resurgence in her career as a successful entrepreneur. Recent reports detail her journey from facing accusations of defrauding others to achieve financial stability, to now leading a thriving business.

The initial revelation of Shoo’s gambling activities surfaced in 2018, reported by the KyungHyang Shinmun newspaper. She initially denied the allegations but later admitted to frequenting the Paradise Group’s Walkerhill Casino, accruing substantial debts. Shoo, holding a Japanese special residency status, engaged in approximately 700 million won (approximately $525,000 USD as of March 20, 2026) in gambling, according to reports from December 2025. This admission followed scrutiny related to claims that she had falsely denied gambling to her management team and close associates.

The legal consequences followed swiftly. In 2020, Shoo received a six-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, along with 80 hours of community service. She was similarly implicated in a separate case concerning the unpaid gambling debts, amounting to roughly 700 million won.

Despite the public scandal and legal battles, Shoo has embarked on a latest career path. As of December 25, 2025, she has established herself as a CEO, achieving what has been described as a “complete sell-out” of her products. Details regarding the specific nature of her business ventures remain limited, but reports indicate she has been actively preparing for this second act, traveling internationally to lay the groundwork. She shared images on social media depicting her daily life and work abroad.

In a recent social media post, Shoo reflected on her journey, stating, “All beginnings start with imagination in your head. Imagination deepens beyond reality.” This statement suggests a deliberate shift in perspective and a commitment to her new role.

As of December 29, 2025, Shoo has publicly stated she believes she deserves the opportunity to move forward, declaring she has “the right to turn the page.” The prosecution has not commented on any ongoing investigations related to the original gambling debt accusations.
